Dana Childress, Ph.D., Early Intervention Professional Development Consultant and Author - October 25, 2021
"With this new edition, Shelden and Rush continue to take the lead with providing current, evidence-based information about teaming that is grounded in the real world of early intervention practice. Practitioners, teams, and program leaders can use the many tools—checklists, worksheets, fact sheets, case studies, scripts, scenarios and more—to reflect on their own teaming practices, overcome challenges, and move the bar forward toward a primary service provider approach."
Laurie Dinnebeil, Ph.D., Distinguished University Professor Emerita, University of Toledo - October 25, 2021
"Anyone who is interested in supporting families and their very young children should have a copy of this book on their bookshelves. Shelden and Rush once again are leading the way with an evidence-based approach to support families and other adults who care for young children with disabilities!"
Naomi Younggren, Ph.D., Technical Assistant Consultant, Early Childhood Technical Assistance (ECTA) Center - October 25, 2021
"Teaming is at the heart of early childhood intervention, but it can be challenging. This user-friendly handbook unfolds the complexities of a primary service provider approach to teaming. It clearly explains the research to practice connection and equips readers with a wealth of real-life examples, checklists, reflection questions and more to help teams understand and implement high quality teaming practices. Collectively, this treasure trove of evidence-based material delivers the essentials for building, enhancing, and sustaining an effective teaming structure."
Sarah Hansen, Assistant Special Education Director - ESU #1, Nebraska - October 24, 2021
"From small changes in formatting to more substantial additions in available content, it is obvious that Shelden and Rush have used their research and experiences alike to make the second edition of this book even more user-friendly, relevant and relatable. Reading the book from cover to cover provides a great global perspective on what the PSP approach to teaming entails while the newly enhanced appendices offer easy-to-access tools that facilitators and team members can use on a weekly basis. Whether teams are at an exploration phase or have been implementing the approach for years, readers gain access to an evidence-based roadmap for success. Having relied heavily on this book in the past, I am excited to share the new "Primary Service Provider Teaming Process-Initial Referral to Individualized Family Service Plan Process", "Checklist for Selecting a Primary Service Provider Approach to Teaming Meeting Facilitator", "Primary Service Provider Teaming Scenario Index" and "Commonly Asked Questions" resources with teams in our area. Not only will these tools enhance our current teaming practices, they will help build the capacity of our team leaders to continue this important work moving forward."
Kathy Brown, M.Ed., Birth to 5 Coordinator, Special Educator, Allegany County Public Schools - October 24, 2021
"This handbook is chock full of everyday, real experiences! Everyone in the field of early intervention would agree that evidence-based practices are crucial to help families of young children with delays close the gap. The Early Intervention Teaming Handbook: The Primary Service Provider Approach, Second Edition, is grounded in these practices and provides the research to support these practices. The forms are easy to use and just make sense. Change is never easy, ever. However, with this resource at your fingertips the change to PSP will be accomplished."
Amy Owens, OTR/L, Adjunct Instructor, Cleveland University - October 24, 2021
"The Early Intervention Teaming Handbook, Second Edition is a must have for every team and every administrator who is implementing this approach. The worksheets, checklists, schedules and case study are wonderful tools for providers. The commonly asked questions guide at the end of the book is a great resource for leadership to be successful."
Marnie Stone, B.A., EIS, IMH-E®, Fidelity Coach - October 24, 2021
"I am excited to dig into the second edition of The Early Intervention Teaming Handbook! My first edition copy is dog-eared and highlighted and WORN! I use it all the time as I support teams in pursuit of fidelity to the Teaming and Primary Service Provider approach. I read and re-read it. I refer to it over and over, citing the excellent case studies and examples of teaming conversations. This new edition of the handbook continues to support coaching during team meetings and in the natural learning environments of the families we serve. For programs who aspire to implement the PSP, teaming and coaching approach, it is a MUST HAVE for every single direct service provider."
Jamie Anderson, M.A., CCC-SLP, Robbinsdale Area School - October 24, 2021

Five stars!"
Andrea Hasan, OTR/L, MPH, Early Intervention Occupational Therapist, Robbinsdale Area Schools, Robbinsdale Minnesota - October 24, 2021

Good teaming practices set the stage for efficient intervention. Quality collaboration increases satisfaction among (Early Intervention) team members as well as clients/families. Dathan and M'Lisa's book will help your Early Intervention program operate more effectively and provide better intervention services."
Stephenie Labandz, PT, DPT, Robbinsdale Area Schools Early Intervention - October 24, 2021
"Utilizing the framework and tools for a Primary Service Provider approach has created a culture of strength-based support in our relationships with caregivers and with each other as team members. The authors take a realistic look at opportunities and challenges related to shifting toward and sustaining a Primary Service Provider model and provide relatable scenarios, dialogues, and scripts. The recommended teaming process from initial referral to development of the IFSP repeatedly reminds me that it is an opportunity to create the best team and family matches and nurture new relationships and not a race to complete the plan. I appreciate that ASHA, APTA, the Section on Pediatrics of the American Physical Therapy Association, and the Department of Early Childhood support PSP as an appropriate teaming approach in early intervention. The PSP approach reminds me to look at a child’s participation not just through the lens of one developmental domain, but as a whole child playing an active role in a whole family in a unique natural environment. My copy of a previous edition now falls open to the pages with sample functional, participation-based IFSP outcomes. Intentionally setting up the plan from the beginning honoring caregiver priorities and knowledge while setting the expectation of a coaching relationship and describing the how and why of joint visiting is a great way to ground your practice as a Primary Service Provider."
