Edith L. Bavin, Ph.D., Honorary Professor, School of Psychological Science,

Edith L. Bavin obtained her Ph.D. at the University of Buffalo. Her early research was
on the acquisition of Warlpiri, an indigenous language spoken in central Australia. More
recent research has been on specifi c language impairment, focusing on memory. She is
a chief investigator on the Early Language in Victoria Study, a longitudinal study on the
natural history of language impairment and literacy development. Other current research
is the language processing of children with autism using eye tracking and the language
and the cognitive development of young children with cochlear implants. She served as
editor of the Journal of Child Language 2006—2012 and edited the Cambridge Handbook of Child Language, published by Cambridge University Press in 2009.
