Wendy Ochoa, Ph.D.

Wendy Ochoa, PhD., is an educational researcher working in the Department of Child and Family Development at San Diego State University. Her research centers on supporting parents from low‐income, ethnoracially minoritized backgrounds, particularly Latines, foster the wellbeing of their young children by highlighting and capitalizing on parents' existing knowledge and practices. To this end, Wendy also examines how parents' background characteristics (e.g., language spoken, SES, gender) relate to the types of experiences they have interacting with systems meant to promote their children's wellbeing (e.g., schools, healthcare settings).
