Mark Edward Nichols, M.Ed.
Mark E. Nichols, M.Ed., is the supervisor of assistive technology/digital IEPs and
Lead Digital Rights Manager for accessible instructional materials in Loudoun
County Public Schools (LCPS), Virginia. His inspiration began in 1981 when his
sister was born with cerebral palsy. Fabricating switches and programming communication
devices at a young age laid the foundation for his career. He attended
Lynchburg College, Virginia, where he received a B.A. in special education and psychology,
and then George Mason University for his M.Ed. in assistive technology.
As a founding member of the LCPS Assistive Technology team, he helped develop
and support various cutting-edge professional development strategies. He was the
recipient of the 2012 Virginia Society for Technology in Education Leader of the Year
Award and the 2012 Lynchburg College M. Carey Brewer Alumni Award.
